The following data was scanned into my system with an OCR program.  Although, I am now the unofficial "Family Historian", I 'can not take credit for all the data contained herein'.  I have only modified the format from its original format, made minor corrections and added some content.  The major part of the data collection and organization credit go to the late, Doris Lorene Cogdill Molder. Her tireless efforts to trace a family rumor paid off. Her sister Frances Ruby Cogdill Earles (my grandmother) handed the responsibility down to me, so that I might pass it on to one or both of my children. I hope that my children refer to HISTORICAL FACT relating to David Crockett, and his life, hearsay and folklore are all fine and good. But, the facts are out there, if you look.

Rebecca Elvira Crockett Halford

(third daughter of David Crockett by second wife Elizabeth Patton Crockett)

David Crockett was born, August 17, 1786. He died at the age of forty-nine years and five months, at the battle of the Alamo, San Antonio TX., March 6, 1836. David Crockett married Mary (Polly) Finley, in 1806. They had three children, John, William and Margret. Polly, died in the summer of 1815. David then married Elizabeth Patton, in 1816 (a widow with two small children). Elizabeth was born, May 22, 1788, in Bacomb Co. N. Carolina, where she met and married her first husband, James Patton. They moved to Tennessee, where James was killed in the Creek Indian War. David and Elizabeth Crockett had three children.

 

At the time of David's' death at the Alamo, San Antonio, Texas on March 6, 1836, he was survived by...

 

1 - His second wife: Elizabeth Patton Crockett, and his 6 Children from two different marriages: John, William and Margret, Matilda, Rebecca Elvira and Robert Patton.

Rebecca Elvira Crockett* married Rev. James M. Halford. One of their sons Graves Halford married Martha J. Atkins. They had 13 children. Their oldest child (a daughter), Mary Olivia. 

 

1: Mary Olivia Halford* married Jefferson Davis Rentfrow. They had one child (a daughter), Ruby Davis. Born October 11, 1895.

 

2: Ruby Davis Rentfrow* married Francis Marrion Cogdill, October 9, 1912. They had five children. They were, Thelma Louise, born October 19, 1913. Doris Lorene, born October 16, 1915. Happy Jack, born November 13,1917. Leo Jefferson, born August 14, 1920 (**Leo Jefferson died November 8, 1946, at the age of 25. He never married**).

Thelma Louise Cogdill married Malcom Pace in 1930. They had one child (a daughter), Dorthy Louise, born November 24, 1935.

 

Doris Lorene Cogdill married Sterling Lee Molder, October 10, 1930. They had one child (a daughter), Marry Rozelle, born January 15, 1934.

 

Happy Jack Cogdill married Bucella Molder, January 15, 1935. They had two daughters. Jacklene, born January 26, 1937 and, Betty Dean, born September 27, 1938.

 

3: Frances Ruby* married William Jay Earles Jr., April 2, 1942. They had two children. (4a) Theona Faye*, born January 26, 1943, and (4b) William John, born January 13,1945.

 

James Bobby Walker married Gloria Daniels. They had four children. Gina Marie, born October 9, 1954, Kathy, born July 19, 1957, Bobby, born August 9, 1960 and Patrica Susan. Born December 23, 1962. James Bobby Walker died of cancer, October 23, 1968, at the age of 34.

 

Gina Marie Walker married Randall Ford Bevis, in 1977. Kathy Walker married Glenn Hardee. They have two children Jake Bobby, born February 23, 1979 and Katie Michell, born October 2, 1982.

 

Bobby, married February 14, 1990. Patricia Susan married Monty Maddox, in 1989. They have one son. Justin Chyenne, born January 31, 1986 Dorthy Louise Pace, married Billy Gray. They had three children. Lonny, Leann and Dorthel.

 

Mary Rozelle Molder married Jack Graves. They had three sons. John Edward, born August 12, 1959, and twins Greg Lorn and Todd Lee, born October 12, 1967.

 

Jacklene Cogdill married Danial Ray Normon. They had five children. Betty Dean Cogdill married Earl Wilson. They had six children.

 

4a: Theona Faye Earles*, married Joseph Ray Johnson, June ??, 1964. They had two sons. Forest Ray*, born October 13, 1965 and Jack Randall, born September 28, 1967. Theona and Joseph were divorced in August 1973. Theona died August 16, 1976.

 

5a: Forest Ray Johnson* married Tina Janeen Hackney Cranford, June 28, 1986. They have two children, (6a) Heather Faye* (Faye coming from Theona's middle name), born April 1, 1991 and (6b) Melissa Caroline* (Melissa Caroline name coming from her Aunt Caroline), born August 24, 1993.

 

5b: Jack Randall* (Randy) Johnson formerly served in the United States Marine Corps. He Served our country in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm Campaigns of 1990 and 1991. Randy Married Caroline Melissa Bayliss on March 21, 1992. They currently have two children (6c) William Christopher Cody*, born July 31, 1993 and, (6d) Lane Michael Ryan*, born July 02,1995.

 

William John Earles married Addie Kathrine (Katie) McKinney, October 25, 1963. They had three children. Jaqueta Ann (Jaye), born August 17, 1964, Janine Lynn (Cissy), born January 13, 1966 and William James, born April 8, 1974.

 

Jaqueta Ann (Jaye) Earles married Sterling Gene Eakin, December 20, 1986. They had one son Jonathan Bryan, born August 2, 1987.

 

Janine Lynn (Cissy) Earles, married David Keith Doyle, June 8, 1985. Their sons David Keith Doyle Jr., born December 27, 1986 and, Jeramy Scott Doyle born January 31,1991.

 

William James Earles married Cheryl Epperson in April of 1993. They had one son Joshua Lance, born October 14, 1993. James and Cheryl divorced in the summer of 1995. James then married Jennifer Dawn Snow on September 9, 1995. They had one child Cameron Scott, born November 27, 1995. Ashton Born ??/??/97.
