We actually have a 'Drive-In' about 35 minutes south of
Dallas, TX, off I45 in Ennis, TX. We saw Grindhouse in
the manner it was intended. Nostalgic yeah, but the
experience was awesome to say the least. I think there
were some 20 parking spots out of almost 200 that were
empty, and average that to 3 people a car (some had 4
others 2), that is a lot of people for Sunday night.
As for there being nobodies in this movie? Ummm, lets
see, a crap load of up and coming actors/actresses
and some down right greats. We are talking a who's who
of the last 20 or 30 years of movie making.
We loved this movie, it was a family outing (two
adults and two teen girls), and we had a ball. The 'B
Movie' is alive and well, and in classic form with
Robert Rodriguez at the helm.
The movie was complete with 'Missing Reel' screens,
skipping and frame clip recycles. Not to forget the old
'Projector Burning through the Film' and you have to
have to love corny Elf eating all the Concession
Garbage, and screwing with the countdown timer while the
Intermission Dude says, "The movie will start in x
minutes".
If you want to have a good time, are of the 35+ year
old set, and don't mind the gore, violence and all that.
Go see Grindhouse! YOU WILL BE TRANSPORTED BACK IN TIME!
I actually remembered being in my 72 Chevy Chevelle,
with a 350 Short Block, Hot plugs and 4 Barrel Carb,
watching some blood, guts and gore 'B Movie' from back
in the day. Yeah, I was in ancient heaven man!
Don't go see Grind if you are wanting some new age
blue/green screen acting, with fake cars and all that.
You won't |
really see a lot of it in Grind. The movie is that well
put together. The acting is purposely bad, the cars are
fast, classic and loud, the hero's are wickedly deadly,
and the villains are seriously in need of lithium and
the electric chair. The monsters are evil, hungry for
human flesh, fast, grotesque and the ooze is absolutely disgusting. Don't be eating any Jell-O or
Ketchup type products during the second feature (you
have been warned). Some people are putting Grind down,
saying it is too violent. The problem is, people are
afraid of what others will say if they are seen going to
see Grind. Those are the very same people that will
sneak in wearing a trench coat and dark glasses to rent
or buy the movie (like it is a PORNO); such hypocrites!!
People claim the movie is outdated, and it's over-done grotesque
and perversely violent... HAVE YOU SEEN THE FRIG'N VIDEO
GAMES KIDS PLAY THESE DAYS?!?! Oh sorry, your too busy
to notice your kids are killing cops and innocent people
while raping, dealing drugs and removing entrails in those
games. I mean it does keep them occupied, right? Want to
see a movie and have a ball? GO SEE GRINDHOUSE!
From Grindhouse, they are making 'Machete'! All
because of a fake trailer people went nuts over, and
that is the most wickedly awesome move Rodriguez could
make! Blood, Gore, Terror and Total Mayhem. OH HELL
YEAH, BRING IT! Wonder if it will really be rated X?
That would be so cool! Think of the blood, the violence
and the gratuitous boob shots (LOL) mmmmmm.
Buy the DVD when it comes out. This one you will
watch again and again!

This was a pretty cool movie, given it was shot almost
entirely on a green screen. The animals were CGI, and
yet the work was awesome. The acting a little more along
the 'B Movie' line. The darkness that seemed always
present, was definitely a blessing in this movie. The
Spartan vs. Persian fight scenes were bloody and
violent. I think I actually liked the wall of bodies,
that was actually pretty cool.
For the ladies, the veritable MEAT MARKET of hot
studs, flexing every muscle they had for the camera. For
us men, a gratuitous boob shot, then lots of violence. |
Ending could have been better, but hey, the troll dude
has to be insulted with a backhanded insult of eternal
life, the pretty king had to be disfigured and the
hero(s) have to die. That is the way of the Movie World.
All in all, it was a good movie, with really great
special effects. I would definitely buy the movie, and
watch it again... then wait about a year and watch it
again.
